A few years ago in South Africa, home-based and palliative care only meant looking after people who were so ill that they were going to die. But now, they are often for people who are on ARV therapy and have an excellent chance of recovery.

In this programme we will explain what both home-based and palliative care involve and show how important they are in helping people to recover from their opportunistic infections. We also highlight the importance of the quality of care that people receive to help recover.
